Happy Christmas to all club members!

Wishing all our Club members and regular visitors a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas.

The weather may be a little cool at the moment, but there is still lots going on at the club:

The winter race series started yesterday with a strong turnout of 21 boats in the fog! There were a handful of SUP members circumnavigating the reservoir and a 'Breakfast party' keeping Tilly's busy.

We will continue to open over the Christmas and New Year period per the club calendar:

There will be a 75 minute pursuit Boxing Day race on Sunday 25th starting at around 11.15am. Bring some of those left over mince pies along to eat over a chat and a coffee post race.

The Wednesday racing will change to 13.55 for the 10 minute warning for the Winter series (from now through March) so if you are one of the regular participants make sure you set off early so as not to be disappointed.

The club will be open on 1st and 2nd January, however Tilly's will be taking a well earned Christmas break so make sure you bring your own refreshments if you plan to be at the club all day. Normal service will resume on 8th January.

The New Year events start with the next Bartley Beast on 15th January followed by Topper class training on 23rd January. February 12th is the final Bartley Beast.

When the club is open then SUP is open so do come down and enjoy a paddle to work off the Christmas excess.

In 2022 we will see Andrew Simpson Centre Birmingham start up again with not one, but two centre managers to bring sailing to the wider Birmingham community seven days a week.

We will also have a full schedule of Open meetings from March onwards for Supernovas, Merlins, Solo / Phantoms, the Albacore Inland Championships, GP14 / K1s, Toppers, and finally ILCA (Lasers). All the dates are in the club diary on the website so make sure you transfer them to your diary so you don't miss out on activities for your class of boat.

On the admin side we are targeting a February date for the AGM (Covid restrictions permitting) to get us back to the normal schedule.

This year has been another active one for our team of volunteers, keeping facilities safe, power boats running, updating our membership records, posting race results, allocating duties, running Open Meetings, marketing the club through media channels, signing up new members, running SUP activities, the list goes on... A huge thank you to all who give their time freely to support the club and keep it running, we would be lost without you!

There are always jobs to do so if you are looking for a New Year's resolution to put back into the club you enjoy attending, then we need help with membership, boat park and general administration, we need more people to step up to do Officer of the Day duties (training can be provided), we need a few sub-committees to increase female participation at the club, and support for new members wishing to progress from learning with ASF to regular club attendee. If any of these areas spike your interest let me know and we can discuss further (commodore@ bartleysailingclub.com).

I hope you have enjoyed your time at the club over the past year and continue to do so in 2022. I wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable festive break and look forward to seeing you on the water soon.

Happy Christmas!

Simon Hardiman

Commodore
