Record Turnout for the Supernova Open

41 boats from 11 different clubs attended the Bartley SC Supernova Open on Sunday. Bartley had 2 of the top 3 placings with Sam Knight and Stephen Hawley in 1st and second place and the first Master, Andy Bownes. Tom Williams defected from his laser for the day to take 1st youth and 1st MK1 boat. The wind was steady from the ENE all day making it fairly easy from a race management point of view with 2 beats the length of the reservoir and dead runs / reaches back to test the downwind skills. The fleet was pretty well behaved with only 1 general recall as the wind filled in with 30s to go and everyone got a bit too much power down leading to a fair bit of chaos on the gun. They quickly regrouped though and got away cleanly at the restart. Full report will be on Yachts and Yachting shortly. Thanks to Garry for organising the event, to the race crew for organisation on the day, and to the competitors and visitors who made it a great day of racing with a record turn out.
