Juniors have a great time at the RYA Regional Junior Championships

Saioirise and Anila have been sailing the RS Feva at Bartley in the K2O club over the summer and fancied seeing what the competition was like from other clubs. They entered into the coached regatta fleet but once at the venue they discussed their capability with the coaches and with 4 other Fevas in the Championship fleet they decided to go for the full on racing experience at their first event! Day 1 was light winds making it tricky to fill the kite downwind and quite tactical upwind. The Bartley crew stayed in contention though and managed a close 5th followed by a 4th. Day 2 had more wind and 4 races. The girls stayed in contention again and managed to hold onto the coat tails of the more experienced fleet ahead. Watching their performance it was clear to see that with a little fine tuning they could well be at the front next year - keep up the training!

In the ILCA 4 at Grafham Fin Moss showed that training does pay off. A regular at the Bartley UKLA training Fin moved from the rear of the fleet 18 months ago to 14th in a fleet of 84 this time around with his highest placing 4th - definitely one to watch in the future.

Millie met up with her Topper squad friends in some tight competition. There were definitely 2 fleets on the water - those who had participated in the squad training last year and those trying out for it this year! Day 1 proved that Millie's growth spurt over the summer was a definite handicap in the light winds, but the force 3 on the Sunday gave her a chance to recover to 11th out of 41 with her best result a 7th.
