*******Important changes to our membership renewal process action required******

What's changing?

We are moving from paper based Direct Debit forms and cheques to a secure payment 'GoCardless' system accessed through our website www.bartleysailingclub.com for membership and boat space payments and renewals.

The club has stopped all current sailing member Direct Debits so your last payment by this method will be October 2021 and we need you to renew your membership via the website for 2021 / 2022 by 10th November 2021 to ensure continuity of membership and club income.

Why is it important?

Our consolidation of records and operating system into one web-based platform via the new website has highlighted many conflicting records that we have done our best to iron out. Every month Direct Debits are returned from the bank which we have to resolve if we can. For each new member we have to send a paper copy of their Direct Debit application to the bank which is both time consuming and less secure than an on-line transaction.

Moving to GoCardless provides a secure platform that links directly to our accounting software and membership records. The membership records link to the duty rota and communications platforms so all are connected.

For members you can confirm your category and boat spaces and can be sure you are paying for what you are using.

For new members it makes it so much easier to join the club and purchase the membership and boat spaces you require.

How will this happen?

The club has cancelled ALL sailing members direct debits to the club so no further money will be collected from your current direct debit.

This means the club has no sailing membership income until all current sailing members renew so it is important that you do so by 10th November at the latest.

What you need to do;

Please follow the instructions attached to log onto the website and renew your membership by 10th November 2021. You can pay in monthly instalments or in a lump sum for the year. If you have boat spaces as well as membership then you can renew these at the same time. The whole process should take less than 5 minutes to complete.

What help is available?

We are not all comfortable with technology and there may be some historic records in the system that are no longer accurate and need updating so Hugo (honsec@bartleysailingclub.com) will be at the club at lunch time on 30th October, the morning of 31st October, Tues 2nd November 17.10 to 18.30, Wed 3rd November 17.00 and then at the same times the following week 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th November holding clinics to walk people through the process or handle any issues that may arise.

It cannot be emphasised enough how much this transition will benefit the club administration; our volunteers work tirelessly in the background and, with a busy club like ours, securely automating our records and applications makes a huge difference. Please help us out by doing your bit and renewing by the deadline.
