Laser Tuesday racing news

“Jeremy Higson and Son Edward top the leader board”

After 5 races so far in the laser fleet we have seen 24 different Laser boats and sailors and the numbers are growing.

We have had some great sailing and even better close racing. The comradely that is building is fantastic and having Less Druyf our fleet captain doing the weekly results announcement is becoming quite humorous and the banter in the bar… well come along and see what we are talking about.

That’s the key here; we are interested in you, and getting your boat out of the dinghy park and back racing again. There are no worries about your age or your boat and even ability, as we run within the single race, two types of results for all rigs.

A personal handicap series that is aimed at encouraging everyone within the fleet so that we are all on equal pegging. As the top end of the fleet get a heavy handicap adjustment every week by results as follows; 1st = -3 minutes, 2nd = -2 minutes, 3rd= -1 minute. So come on down you will be surprised as to how well you could do.

ACTIVATE YOUR LASERS ‐ at Bartley SC 2013 & BEYOND

At Bartley Sailing club we are keen to promote the Laser’s and any general sailing activity, therefore  I would like to invite anyone to join us for an Laser Activate day on 10th March 2013 starting at 10am.

We have managed to secure some funding from RYA for one of their trainers Brett Cokayne to join us on to encourage those who have boats to get sailing again.

Laser Activate day

General ideas are:

What is it? An informative and enjoyable days training on and off the water, sharing ideas on how to re-energise the clubs Laser fleet and get people to sail again and to get their boats out of the dinghy park and onto to water, no matter how old, used or unused.

We gained some funding for this day and I have got some guys coming from RYA to support etc

To me this is a sorry picture

I would far rather see at Bartley SC

The plan is to Start at 10am with a welcome at the club, anyone with a laser should be prepared to rig and if they wish have some time for on water coaching

Laser Activate day 10th March

We are planning a Laser Activate day on Sun 10th March2013 so come on all you Laser Bartley club owners it would be great to see you brush off the dirt and dust down your boats and join us at the club for a fun day. We are also expecting quite a few visitors from local clubs

More info to follow but its planned to have Bret from teh RYA and I, give out some useful info and also for us to discuss how we can work as a {article Open Events Backup}{title} {text} {readmore}{/article}team to generate more interest in sailing at the club.

We are now seeing a regular fleet of around 10 attending and when it stops raining snowing etc im sure there will be even more. We are hoping that if top quality racing is your thing that you will come a join us on Saturdays and or Sundays and in teh summer during the week Tues and wed evenings.

The club is fully supportive of this initiative and we have lots of ideas for the day which will include a class room briefing, on shore rigging tips and some fun on the water live coaching plus help from experienced like minded sailors.

Following some 20years working on the UK Laser Association in various roles and lastly as Chairman i am keen to help support fellow sailors get more out of their boats and have fun on the water.

This will be a day to remember and a safe environment to try out boats etc.

Bartley is a brilliant sailing club and location to be at, on and off the water we have a fun time with tough racing battles and a growing social side in the club house bar.... The members are keen to welcome new sailors in vertically any boat; however this day is aimed mainly at Lasers

Even if you don't yet sail this fantastic boat come along and join in some fun and bring your gear or boat and see what you may be missing.

Regards

John Ling
