Toppers have a Blast at Bartley

Thanks to our rescue crews for their very active participation in the Topper Open on Sunday. The Force 4 to 6 gave the competitors a challenge and also a blast in the sunshine. Race 1 saw high attrition and it took about 15 minutes to recover the turtled boats and their helms to shore but we still managed to get a further 2 races completed. You have to give credit to the competitors aged between 10 and 16 - even those who were rescued took a breather, added a reef or two and then went back out for more! Photo by our very own Topper world champion from 1990 Debbie Degge who probably wished she was out there with them...

Full results on the results page shortly. Bartley's only entrant in the 30 boat fleet was Millie who managed 12th place after as many capsizes! It would be great to see more Bartley youngsters joining this great class. I still have a club Topper in the boat park if anyone is interested in taking it on...
