A big thanks for the RS400 training day!

A big thank you to Mark & Colin for running our latest RS400 training day on 17th April.

Sunday morning arrived with glorious sunshine & an extremely shifty breeze, which came in from nearly every point of the compass at some stage.

After the initial briefing, focusing mainly on boat handling, the fleet took to the water to practice tacking & gybing. This was followed by a short triangular course, where gybe sets & gybe drops were both practised.

A little light lunch was followed by race practice, 2 laps around a short windward leeward.

All in all, a very successful day, which proved useful for all on the water.

Once again a big thank you to Mark & Colin for putting on the training, in what proved to be somewhat testing conditions!

See you at the Sprints!

RS400 training day

Don't miss out on our fantastic pre Sprints RS400 training day. With some excellent coaching from our in house RS400 guru's Mark & Colin, we should all hopefully see some improvements to take into one of our favourite events, the RS400 Sprints.

Be rigged & ready for 10am, Sunday 17th April.

See you all there!

Thursday Night Series

Thursday night series got well under way this week.  5 x RS400's, 1 x Phantom, 1 x Merlin, 1 x Blaze & 1 x K1 all braved our season's opener. Downing & McDonnell got out early for a little practice, only to shred their kite halyard. Wayne quickly helped them to get back on the water, and they only just missed the start.

Last years Stevie Nicks & Sprints Champs Messrs Knight & Knight pretty much lead from start to finish - guys you at least need to give us a little hope that we can catch you!

A warm meal & a couple of beers later, and we can pretty much all say, that we're glad mid week sailing is back.

Plenty of room for all comers on a Thursday evening - it's not class specific, so come down, have a race & chew the fat afterwards over a beer!

See you all next week.

THANK YOU to all those members for the Working Party

THANK YOU to all those members for the Working Party

On behalf of Caroline and Bartely Sailing Club Committee we want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all those members that came down early and gave their time freely to help as a team effort to smarten up the club.... those windows in the race hut have never looked so good. Claire inside and Sam the outside!!..

There were so many people attended I lost count after seeing teams all over...., what was amazing is that we could have filled three skips!!!..Apologies to those members that with my help had to go back into the skip to fish our boat covers!!!

It was such a great feeling to see the team effort and what we did achieve by doing this...

Kind regards

John

Annual prize giving.. A FUN EVENING

Annual prize giving.. A FUN EVENING

Those 45 members and friends enjoyed a great evening of fun with lots of party boat racing games, quiz and the amazing raffle. Unfortunately nobody declared that they won the £100,000 ticket, but it’s been noticeable that a few club members was away this weekend!!! Very suspicious!!!

Many thanks goes to Lou Archer and her team for putting on a slick operation for the night and cooking up a fantastic curry... even though the naan bread arrived late!!!

Sailing endeavour brass vase was awarded to Ken Saunders who has completed the largest amount of races over the season in his Supernova.

Special awards this year when to three of the main committee members for their efforts over the many years of the club:-

Mark Reddington for all his hard work collating the results and doing so so so much more

Mark Perrigo for being treasurer - so the committee provided him with a BIG calculator to ensure he can see the numbers and keep adding up the figures correctly

Andrea and Alan Archer for looking after the dinghy park and running Duty Man

Lastly

Howard Eeles Training officer and our BOPC Centre Manager was recognised for his considerable efforts. You may not be aware of all the hard work that Howard puts into the BS club and so the members wanted to present him with a special engraved trophy to say "Thank you". Single handedly he has increased activity and developed a successful business that has put income into our account and helped to suppress the membership fee cost increase. May it long continue so many thanks Howard

For those members that were not able to turn up to collect their trophies we have a box in the bar that if you can look through to collect please.

Kind regards

John

Bosun required at Bartley Sailing club

Bosun required at Bartley Sailing club

Bosun required at Bartley Sailing club

The sailing committee are seeking any member that either knows how to maintain our rescue boats or would like to be trained to help do this.

As you know, in order to provide sailing activities at Bartley we always ensure BSC can provide adequate rescue cover. To achieve this we need to ensure that our various ribs and crafts are maintained in good working order and ready for use.

Therefore if you would like to offer some support to Howard in anyway this would be greatly received.

We know that some members are not active sailing racers and therefore may want to consider that Powerboating could be of more interest.

In the first instance please can you contact Howard Eeles – BOPC Centre Manager

Many thanks for your support
